Smoking Ban, pipirmahan na ni Duterte ngayong Martes

MANILA - Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol, pipirmahan na ni Pangulong Duterte ang executive order upang ipagbawal ang paninigarilyo sa lahat ng pampublikong lugar sa buong bansa.

"[President Duterte] said he will sign it tomorrow," pahayag ni Piñol.

Noong Enero, hiniling ni Duterte kay Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial na magdraft ng executive order na katulad ng iniimplement sa ngayon sa Davao na "100% smoke-free environment in public places."

"The executive order will actually mandate all the agencies of government, including the local government to implement this 100% smoking ban in all public places. It's not just Metro Manila," pahayag niya.

“There will be no smoking in public places anymore, whether indoor or outdoor. Parks, bus stations, and even in vehicles. All these are considered public places,” pahayag ni Ubial sa isang interview noong 2016.

"It's an order to the executive branch. It's up to the local government units also to draft their, shall we call, ordinances to implement this executive order. It's different from a law," dagdag pa niya.

“Hindi pwede sa indoor. Halimbawa, sa airport merong kuwarto roon na naninigarilyo, hindi na puwede iyong ganoon o kaya sa mall may isang kuwarto doon na bumubuga ng usok, hindi na pwede iyon,’ ayon din kay Dr. Eric Tayag.
