PNP Chief Bato, iimbestigahan sa Ombudsman dahil free trip to Pacman fight

Ipinahayag ni Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales noong Huwebes na magsasagawa sila ng imbestigasyon kay Philippine National Police Chief, Director General Ronald de la Rosa dahil sa pagtanggap nya ng  libreng plane ticket, hotel accommodation at ringside ticket sa laban ni Sen. Manny Pacquiao sa Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ayon umano sa Republic Act 6713 “public officials and employees shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by the functions of their office.”

Bukod pa kay dela Rosa, nilibre din ni Pacquiao ang iba nyang mga kaibigan na ang iba ay nanggaling din mula sa gobyerno.

Pacquiao bought some two thousands tickets – over a million dollars' worth – and also flew in some of his friends from the government himself.

"It's an honor na lahat sila, naka-suporta sa akin. Si Bato, Aguirre , at marami pang iba. 'Yung mga kasama na congressmen, si Toby Tiangco, Senator Villanueva. Maraming kaibigan na pumunta dito," pahayag ni Pacqiao sa Vegas.

"Libre ito ni Manny," ani dela Rosa "lahat sila, galing ito sa Senator. Baka sabihin nila, government funds. Hindi naman ako ganoon kayaman "

“Bahala na ang propriety na iyan. All I know is it’s free so I grabbed the opportunity,” 

“After all, we (he and Pacquiao) both came from poverty. We had this vacation and we’re really happy about it,” dagdag pa ni dela Rosa.

Para kay Sen. Panfilo Lacson naman, wala umano siyang nakikitang masama sa panlilibre ni Pacquiao kay dela Rosa.

“If it was the other way around, si Bato nanlibre kay Sen. Pacquiao, baka may issue pa,” 

“Kaya wala akong nakita. But that’s me, hindi ko alam, ano ang puwede itanong sa Civil Service Commission or tanong sa Ombudsman kung may involved na conflict of interest,” 

Ang hindi lang maintindihan ng dating PNP chief noong Estrada administration, ay kung tinuloy ni Dela Rosa ang pa­nonood sa laban ni Pacquiao sa Las Vegas (Linggo sa Maynila) matapos na mapatay si Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa noong Sabado ng madaling-araw.

“Natatandaan ko noong chief PNP ako nasa Atlanta (USA) ako dahil may gun show. Nagpaalam ako sa presidente (Estrada). Pero nagkaroon ng incident, nabaril ang pulis sa Commonwealth kasi counter-flow, may follow-up operation sa drugs, e mistaken identity. Agad-agad iniwan ko whatever activities we had at the time, bumalik ako rito,” pahayag ni Lacson.
