"We don't have any special expectations for his visit to Tokyo, and I would let the president and his staff speak for his trip and his agenda and what he intends to accomplish there. We didn't lay expectations on that. As I just said, our expectations are that we're going to continue to abide by this treaty alliance and by our relationship going forward. We are taking a long view here. And obviously, as the head of state, we would expect that he would travel in the region or throughout the world to meet - to meet with his neighbors or other nations. That's certainly his right as president. So we obviously welcome these discussions, as we did when he went to Beijing, and we'll see what comes out of it. But we didn't lay expectations in advance of it. That wasn't our goal at all," ani Kirby.
"The Philippines will continue to work closely with Japan on issues common concern in the region and uphold the sheer values of democracy, adherence to the rule of law and the peaceful settlement of disputes including the South China Sea," ani ng Pangulo sa kanilang joint statement ni Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe matapos ang kanilang bilateral meeting sa Minister's Office sa Tokyo.
"But let me add that in all respects, as every relationships are alienated in this world, we seek only peace and friendship but I give you my word today that we will not abandon Japan in our partnership and security matters given the common belief that our conflicts and problems with other nations must be resolved peacefully, in accordance with international law," pahayag niya.
"We would like to make..that we would also be a partner and a player of maritime safety, maritime security anytime and that we would like to avoid at all costs violence because we have to resolve it peacefully and in accordance with international law. That is my assurance that in all of these endeavors, we will be your partner and we will stand by our word." dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
